To remove two wall two extend our kitchen
Whilst he was there my wife mentioned we were taking out a stud wall in the bathroom
The engineer quickly pointed out that an upright for the roof was above the stud
So far so good we decided that taking the two walls out was a little too much
But rather than waste the engineers visit , we asked them to do the calls on a removing the upright
Which he agreed and a few days later we received a hand written calculation
Excellent
WHAT WE DIDNT EXPECT
WAS A BILL FOR £ 400 pounds + vat Total £480
For what have could only been a couple of hours work
I know these engineers have studied hard but it does not justify the cost of a simple calculation
I have spoken to several builders who agree
